Ghrelin is an endogenous ligand for the growth hormone (GH) secretagogue receptor (GHSR). Ibutamoren (MK-677) is an orally-active, non-peptidic agonist of GHSR and, as a result, is a GH secretagogue. It elevates GH in dogs after oral doses as low as 0.125 mg/kg, without significantly changing plasma levels of aldosterone, luteinizing hormone, thyroxine, or prolactin.

DOSING: Clinical studies conducted had dosing between 5-25 mg per day, with 25 mg being the most common and effective dose. MK-677 has a 24 hour half-life and showed to be best tolerated when fed to rats each morning on an empty stomach.
